As Spring is here and the studio is bright and sunny (well, for now at least) we’re already jumping ahead and thinking of Summer! I’ve worked here at GK for two years now but as an East Coaster had never been to Gillian’s childhood holiday destination of Millport on the tiny Scottish West-Coast Isle of Cumbrae. I decided to rectify that a couple of weeks ago with a visit to the island and Gillian threatened to disown me if I didn’t make a visit to the famous Ritz Cafe for a sneaky double-nougat or some mushy peas…
The place is almost unchanged for the last 50 years – formica heaven and a mecca for lovers of pattern, design and generally all things retro and wonderful. And – equally important – the ice-cream is to die for.
Our wee ‘Seaside Cafe’ range is a fabulous salute to retro ice-cream cafes across the UK and features the famous Ritz Cafe menu, which I’m amazed to say still takes pride of place behind the counter in all its eccentric glory.
The ‘Seaside Cafe’ range is now in our Spring Sale, which is on until Wednesday and we’re offering up to 50% off – you can see the full range here
