As a Scottish artist, I find Robert Burns a wonderfully inspiring, visual and contemporary individual.
His everyday choice of topics on which he wrote 200+ years ago are remarkably relevant, engaging and fresh today. But its far from just me that thinks this. In a poll conducted by Scottish Television about 10 years ago, The Ploughman Poet was voted #1 Great Scot by the Scottish public.
A couple of years ago I pulled out a couple of lines from 4 of Robert Burns’ best known poems and songs and started doodling. The intention being to capture the meaning of the his lyrics and verse written in Scots as images and thereby make these works more accessible today.
